When I was a
teacher, I tried to teach my students how to write notes to each other. I
wanted them to learn the skill of writing notes to encourage their friends.
Of course,
they knew the skill of writing notes back and forth, but not the kind that you
want to keep forever.
I was amazed that
most of my kiddos had no idea where to start. In case you struggle with that
too, I would love to give you a template to use to encourage others.
First off, start
with your greeting. Most people use "Dear", some just say "Hey"
it can be whatever you want and feel comfortable with.
Dear Sally,
Then, tell them
that you were thinking of them, or that God had put them on your mind.
I thought of you the other
day and I wanted you to know I've been thinking about you.
Speak about
something personal, if you know something.
I know that you are
struggling right now, trying to find a job. I want to encourage you to keep it
up.
Speak words that
would encourage them where they are at.
I have always admired your
ability to persevere through struggles. Your endurance and faith in the Lord's
timing is a huge inspiration to me.
Maybe give them
some words to comfort them, if they are going through a hard time (this is a
great place to bring in Scripture).
One of the verses that comforts
me when I am going through a hard time is Jeremiah 29:11 – "For I know the
plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not to harm you.
Plans to give you a hope and a future."
Tell them that you
will be praying for them, or ask them if you can pray for them, or just tell
them again that you are thinking of them.
I am praying that God will guide
you to a position that is just right for you, and that in the meantime, you
will know that He is with you.
Hang in there, Sally!
Love,
Becky
Is there someone you can write an encouragement card to today? Don't waste this chance to make someone feel loved!

Great tips! I'm definitely "pinning" this and saving it for the future!
ReplyDeleteso many need this... so many need to receive these cards - as well as give them.
