I love getting to know people better. I love sitting down with
someone and hearing all that is in their heart. I want to be more intentional
this year about meeting with people.
I would like to have at least one coffee date with a friend,
every two weeks. I originally said every week, but my husband told me to be practical
and make it every other week. I love that man. It doesn't have to be coffee by
the way, it can be just hanging out at my house, going to the park, whatever.
If you and I were to have coffee. First off, as always, I
wouldn't get coffee. It is cold here (finally!) so I would probably get a
peppermint hot cocoa. I would ask for them to go light on the chocolate sauce,
cause I don't like to drink strait chocolate sauce when I get to the last three
sips.
We would sit somewhere in the back, where it isn’t so noisy
and we could just chat. I would daydream about a coffee shop that had a
fireplace, but then remember that this is the South and it is cold here, like
5.6 days out of the year, so a fireplace just isn't practical.
I would ask how you are doing and listen intently as you share
your heart with me. I might offer some words of excitement, encouragement or
just listen.
I would tell you that I am struggling right now to find my purpose
in ministry. I haven't been very involved in church in a while and it is on my
heart to get involved. I just don't know where. So I feel stuck.
I would ask you what you are reading in Scripture or if you
are reading Scripture. If you aren't a Christian, I would ask you about your
thoughts on Jesus Christ. I wouldn't pressure or push, I would just be curious about
what you believe. Everyone believes something about Jesus Christ, I would love
to know your thoughts.
I might share with you what I believe. That is, if you wanted
to know. If not, then I might change the subject and tell you that I have
finally lost my baby weight. I guess six months is truly the magic number.
We might make small talk and then, our butts would get sore
and we would depart.
That is, if we had coffee together. Maybe one day…

That's a wonderful goal Becky! :) I believe that one of the best gifts God has given us is the privilege to give, and to take advantage of the energy that flows through our life and relationships by sharing. That's a wonderful ministry in itself!
