#10 Schedule of a Stay at Home Mom

Warning: This post is vulnerable and full of humility. Be warned, I am not a perfect housekeeper.

I would like to create a daily schedule. I need to make a daily schedule. When I was a teacher, my entire day was driven to a schedule down to the very minute. Now, as a stay at home mama, I am having the hardest time getting things done. I realized it is because it is so easy to waste my time when I don't have a schedule. I have a to do list. That's for sure.

The problem is, I don't get it done. Sure, I mark a few things off each day, but I also add a few. So this list is never done and my house is never clean.

In effort to better honor my husband and my role, I am striving to do better this year. I am striving to have more of a routine for my day, than just whatever pops up. Basically, I am setting priorities. This is so essential, even if I wasn't a Stay at Home Mom.

Here is a typical day:

7:00 Wake up, feed baby, feed dog, start breakfast

7:15 Devotional time

8:30 Baby Naptime, Mom does computer work

10:00 Workout, Go for a walk or do errands

11:30 Baby playtime, mom does daily chores

12:30 Mom and baby lunch

1:00 Baby nap, Mom finish chores

3:00 Mom and Baby playtime together

4:00 Mom start working on dinner, do other household tasks

5:30-6:00 Eat Dinner

7:00 Play as a family

8:00 Bathe baby, read Bible stories, get ready for bed

8:30 Feed baby

8:30-9:00 Baby bedtime

9:00 Couple time

9:45 Bed time

What does your typical day look like?

  3. I think this is a good plan. Give yourself grace and flexibility when you need it. And rework it if needed. You can do it!=)

  4. I, too, so appreciate a schedule. I walk around like a chicken with my head off if I don't have one. I recently came across a cleaning schedule on Pinterest. I told my husband yesterday that I am in love with the schedule. He looked at me like I needed help!! Hey, he knew I was a freak when he married me!! ;)

  5. Thank you for sharing with us. I'm very much a perfectionist so in the past I would go on cleaning rampages and wouldn't rest until my house was perfect. I've realized this isn't practical, at least for me and our family. Those quotes I see moms post about "excuse the mess, but our family is making memories" now ring in my heart more. What I've done is like you make a schedule of daily to do's that are reasonable. Our house is picked up each day, and then I choose which day I'll each of the biggies like full kitchen and bathroom detail. This routine has given me peace to know that all my chores will get done and I can focus on other things without worrying about getting my to do's done :)

    1. Thank you for sharing your heart, I love that. Having a schedule seems like it would take time away from family, but it is amazing how much more time I have with family now that I've started a routine.

  10. I have no schedule but I also don't have a baby or child living at home.My daughter moved out 6 yrs ago.Due to major back issues I don't work anymore.I'm limited as to what I can do b/c of pain.I do what cleaning I can do.My daughter does most of the cleaning which I'm thankful for.I enter giveaways every night.I watch alittle tv,listen to contemporary Christian music while I enter giveaways.I go to walmart and grocery shopping every 2 wks.I go to starbuck once a wk.I go to my mom's & sister's house who live down the street.I'm so blessed to have my mom, daughter, sisters & neices live so close.I go to the marina to read and relax.I have to get out of the house once a wk or I go stir crazy. My life isn't organized, scheduled or exciting but I like it.Jesus is my Lord & Savior and that's what makes my life great :)
